Call for applications for innovative school projects for the 2026 International Teachers’ Day Celebration
The Ministry of Education, through the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB), is preparing to celebrate the 25th International Teachers’ Day in October 2026. This year's celebration will recognize teachers and schools that have demonstrated exceptional innovation by implementing outstanding projects and initiatives that address educational challenges and contribute to improved learning outcomes.
Public and private schools are invited to submit one innovative project aligned with at least one of the following five Innovation Pillars:
- Quality Learning and Pedagogical Excellence;
- Digital Transformation and ICT Integration;
- Skills Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation;
- Community Outreach and Socio-Economic Development; and
- Inclusive Education, Teacher Welfare and School Wellbeing.
Applications, together with supporting evidence demonstrating the project's implementation and impact, must be submitted online via the following link:

The application period is from 21st July to 21st August 2026. Paper-based submissions will not be accepted. Following a rigorous national screening, evaluation, and field verification process, the winning schools will be officially recognized and awarded during the 25th International Teachers’ Day celebration on 5th October 2026.
In this regard, I kindly request your office to inform all schools within your District of this call for applications and to provide them with the necessary support to ensure the timely preparation and submission of their applications before the closing date.
